Citadel Alumni Obituaries

Hilda Mary Elizabeth Cannon, 83, of Goose Creek, SC, died Monday, June
28, 2010, peacefully at home. Born on December 30, 1926, in Berkeley
County she was the daughter of the late Matthew Cleveland Cannon, Sr.
and Alberta Brown Cannon. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, earned
a Master of Social Work degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA
and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from The Citadel. Ms. Cannon
retired as a social worker from MUSC. She is survived by her brother,
Matthew Cleveland Cannon, Jr., of Goose Creek; two sisters, Zayda Cannon
Yoder of Henderson, NC, and Melba Cannon Lee of Moncks Corner, SC;
several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews;
great-great-nieces; and great-great-nephews. The funeral service will be
held in Smyrna United Methodist Church, Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 10:00
a.m. Interment to follow at Smyrna UM Churchyard. The family will
receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180
Greenridge Road Wednesday, June 30, 2010, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
