Death of John A. Cromer, Jr., ’57

John Albert Cromer, Jr. age 73, of 121 Saddletree Road, Lincolnton, N.C.
passed away at Cardinal Health and Rehabilitation Center on October 29,
2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert Cromer, Sr.
and Sibyl Costner Cromer. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m.,
Sunday, November 1, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Hacker
and Rev. Richard R. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in
Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m.
until 3 p.m. at the church. John was a 1957 graduate of The Citadel
Military College. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957
until 1960. He was an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country
award. He was owner of Lincoln Insurance Service, Inc. and Cromer
Financial Services, Inc. He retired in 1995. John was a lifelong member
of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he served faithfully for many years.
John served on the Board of Directors of the Lincolnton-Lincoln County
Chamber of Commerce, the United Way and the Lincoln County Chapter of
the American Red Cross. He was presented the Rotary Club Man of the
Year Award in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Yvonne
Goodson Cromer; one son, John A. Cromer, III and wife, Kathy; two
daughters: Linda Cromer Goodson and husband, Stan; and Laura Cromer of
Lincolnton; grandsons: Matthew Goodson, Daniel Goodson, Ryan Cromer,
Andrew Cromer, and Alex Cromer of Lincolnton. Memorials may be made to
Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hospice of Lincoln County, Lincoln County
Chapter of the American Red Cross, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800
Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220. Warlick Funeral Home is in
charge of the arrangements.
