Citadel Alumni Obituaries

Marion deVeaux Jones, Jr., 49, died April 12, 2008. Funeral services
will be held on Thurs. at 3pm at St. Helena’s Episcopal Church with
burial in St Helena’s Cemetery. Mr. Jones was born on September 19,
1958, in Beaufort, SC, a son of the late Marion d. Jones, Sr., and Mary
Jack Jones. He was a 1980 Citadel Graduate and a licensed insurance
agent, joining The Marion Jones Insurance Agency in 1985. deVeaux was a
member of The Citadel Alumni Association and a past president of The
Boys &Girls Club and The United Way of Beaufort. He was a member of St.
Helena’s Episcopal Church. An avid boatsman, deVeaux enjoyed many hours
with family and friends on the rivers of Beaufort that he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Hanna Jones, of Beaufort, his three
daughters, Caitlin Shea Jones of Charleston, SC, Lindsay Francis Jones
of Charleston, SC and Elizabeth deVeaux Jones of Beaufort, SC, a
step-daughter, Erin Fitzgerald Marvin of Charlotte, NC, two sisters,
Susan Jones Henry of Beaufort, SC and Bonnie Jones Smith of Columbia,
SC, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister,
Becky Jones. Memorials may be made to The Boys & Girls Club, P.O. Box
