Harold B. Alexander ’50
H. B. Alexander, 80, of Saluda, died Friday morning, July 17, 2009. He
was a native of Chester, S.C. and a prior resident of Charleston, S.C.,
before moving to Saluda in 1991. He served his undergraduate studies at
the Citadel, majoring in English and earned his master’s degree at Duke
University. He was an English professor at the Citadel in Charleston,
S.C. for more than 30 years retiring in 1991. He served with the Army
during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his
loving wife, Cam; son, Scott Alexander and his wife, Carolyn of Wahalla,
SC and a grandson, Bruce Alexander also of Wahalla, SC. A funeral will
be at 2 p.m. Monday at Thos. Shepherd’s Church Street Chapel with the
Rev. Bill Landreth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour
prior to the service. Burial will be private. Military Rites will be
conducted by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick Rhodes VFW
Post 5206 Chapter 14 of the DAV. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions may be made in his honor to the charity of the donor’s
choice. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of the
arrangements.
