Samuel Arthur Hunt, Jr., of Columbia, S.C. Memorial service for Samuel
Arthur Hunt, Jr. will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethel United
Methodist Church in Columbia, with interment in the church Memorial
Garden. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the
family. Mr. Hunt passed away on Thursday, December 11. Born in
Greenville in 1922, he was the son of the late Samuel Arthur Hunt, Sr.
and the late Mary Nelson Hunt. After graduating from Greenville Senior
High School, he attended The Citadel before joining the U.S. Army Signal
Corps and served in the European Theatre of Operations. In 1947, he
married Audrey June Geitz and in 1954 they moved to Columbia, where they
raised three sons. After a 41-year career with Southern Bell Telephone
Company, he retired in 1982. Surviving are his wife of more than 61
years, Audrey June Geitz Hunt; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Dawn
McElveen Hunt of Columbia, Andy and Lara Wilson Hunt of Isle of Palms,
Steven Hunt and Deborah Gideon of Anchorage, Alaska; and grandchildren,
Jennifer Hunt of Columbia, Carrie Anne Hunt of Charlotte, N.C., Courtney
Hunt of Asheville, N.C., and Lennon Hunt of Columbia. Memorials may be
made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4600 Daniel Dr.,
