William S. Othersen, ’55
William (Bill) Smith Othersen. 79, of James Island =
entered into eternal rest
on Friday, January 18, 2013. A memorial service will be held Friday,
February 1 at 11:00 a.m. at The Unitarian Church in Charleston, 4 =
Archdale
Street. Reception immediately following at 3 West Street, Charleston, =
SC.
Bill was born July 8,1933 in Charleston, S.C., son of the late Henry =
Biemann
Othersen and Lydia Smith Othersen. He was a graduate of Rivers High =
School
and The Citadel, class of 1955, with a degree in Electrical =
Engineering.
After a two year service in the Army, he was employed by Western =
Electric,
Bell South and AT&T for his entire career. After retirement, he =
moved back
to Charleston in order to be near his family. He was a member of The
Unitarian Church. Bill played the Recorder and was a member of the =
Olde
Pipes Consort. They played in numerous places in the Low Country. =
Bill
volunteered four years at the James Island Elementary Kaleidoscope =
After
School Program. Bill is survived by his three brothers, Dr. H. =
Biemann
Othersen, Jr. and his wife, Janelle; Claus B. Othersen and his wife, =
Mary
Helen; Charles M. Othersen and his wife, Dot; two sisters, Lydia =
Othersen
Southworth (John, deceased) and Catherine Othersen Johnson and her =
husband,
Marion, all of Charleston, and many nieces and nephews. Interment in
Walhalla, SC., at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Sadly missed by =
all.
