Thomas M. Corbett, ’77
Thomas M. Corbett, 59, of Big Pine Key, Fla., formerly of Petrolia, passed
away on Nov. 23. He was born Aug. 18, 1953, and was the son of the late
Herman and H. Pauline Corbett of Petrolia. He had a distinguished career in
the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a lieutenant colonel with 33 years of
service. He received numerous medals and honors in various campaigns. He
received a bachelor of science degree from the Citadel and two master’s
degrees. He was working on his doctorate. He was employed at the Joint
Interagency Task Force South of Key West, Fla. He is survived by his wife,
Nancy; two daughters, Trisha and her husband, Shane, Slaughter of
Spartinsburg, S.C., and Jennifer Corbett of Arlington, Va; three
grandchildren, Matthew and Kaleigh Slaughter of Spartinsburg, S.C., and
Mason Dratt of Arlington, Va; a sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and
Harold Hutchison of Chicora; a stepmother, Peg Corbett of Butler; two
stepbrothers, Jeff Barnhart of Chicora and Bruce Barnhart of West Sunbury; a
stepsister, Diane Barnhart of Chicora; one aunt, Marcia Corbett of Foxburg;
one uncle, Paul and Diane Rudish of Chicora; one nephew, David and Sandi
Gifford of Karns City; as well as a number of cousins. He was preceded in
death by his parents; one brother, Herman Corbett of Port St. Lucie, Fla.;
and a nephew, Chris Corbett of Bruin. CORBETT – Thomas M. Corbett passed
away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012. A burial with military honors will be later at
Arlington National Cemetery.
