Citadel Alumni Obituaries

Gerard E. Kney Jr. of Nyack, NY formerly of Pearl River, NY, died suddenly
of heart failure on November 5th, 2012. He was 56 years old. Gerry earned a
degree in political science from The Citadel Military College in Charleston,
SC graduating in 1978. He then served in the Air Force for 20 years as a
Missile Launch, AWAC and NATO officer retiring at the rank of Major. Gerry
was devoted to his family and his dog Lucy, was an avid outdoorsman and
thoroughly enjoyed spending time in his Adirondack home on Brant Lake, NY.
He is predeceased by his father Gerard Sr. and survived by his mother, Joan
of Nyack; brother, Jack of Seal Beach, Ca; sister, Sue (Bob) Goldrick and
sister, Barbara (Bob) Wilson, both of Pearl River, NY. He is also survived
by nephew and nieces, Alex, Maddie and Anna Wilson and Megan and Kaity
Goldrick. A Mass of Christian Burial to be held 10am Friday at St Aedan’s
R.C. Church, Pearl River NY. Burial to follow at Cemetery of the Ascension,
Airmont, NY. Visiting will be held Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at
Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to
Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or Hi-Tor Animal Care
Center, 65 Fireman’s Memorial Dr. Pomona, NY 10970.
