Charles Otis “C.O.” Belk Jr. died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Palmetto Health
Richland in Columbia, S.C. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Sollers
officiating. Born June 23, 1929, Mr. Belk was the son of the late C.O. Belk
Sr. and Bessie Wallace Belk. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School,
Presbyterian College, Mid-Atlantic Bible College and attended the Citadel.
Mr. Belk was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War and
was owner and operator of Cooper’s Furniture Store. He was formerly an
Associate Minister of First Baptist Church of Great Falls and a greeter for
Wal-Mart in Winnsboro. He was the widower of Jane Owings Belk. He is
survived by one son, Charles O. Belk III of Great Falls, S.C.; a son-in-law,
Thomas Broome of Great Falls; and three grandchildren, Brandon Belk of Great
Falls, Jordan Broome of Fort Gordon, Ga., and Jeremy Broome of Great Falls.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherrie Belk Broome. Memorials may

Falls, SC 29055.
