Anthony C. Colon, ’82
A Retired Sergeant Anthony Colon of the San Jose Police Department went to
rest with the Lord early Thursday morning. He was the son of Mary and
Antonio (deceased) Colon of New York and dedicated brother to Gina Colon of
New York. Anthony was a respected member of the San Jose Police Department
for 26 years. Before serving his local community, Anthony served his country
as a member of the Air Force. After graduating from the Citadel, Anthony
moved to San Jose and accepted a position with the police department.
Shortly after beginning his work on the force, he met his wife, Susan. The
two married in 1987 and have two beautiful children, Dominick and Alexandra.
Throughout his career he was assigned to various units: Violent Crimes
Enforcement Team (VCET), Internal Affairs (IA), Narcotic Enforcement Team
(NET), and Airport Security. Though he received numerous professional awards
while serving with the San Jose Police Department, they did not compare to
the extraordinary friendships he made while on the force. Treasured
childhood friends include Vinny Keogh, Danny Gorman, and Chris Cole. For
those who knew Anthony, the big voice and the distinct New York accent will
not be forgotten. The presence of this wonderful man could make a child rest
quietly or tame a lion. He lived a life of service and loved protecting
those who otherwise would not have had a voice. Anthony is survived by his
wife, Susan, and children, Dominick and Alexandra, his mother, Mary, sister,
Gina, niece Kimberly, many beloved cousins, father and mother-in-law,
Richard and Olive DeFrancisci, brothers-in-law Tom, Robert and Richard
DeFrancisci and their families, and sister-in-law Donna Grover. Visitation
