Samuel William Rhodes Jr., 60, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away Saturday,
Oct. 15, 2011, at Piedmont Medical Center. A memorial service to celebrate
the life of Mr. Rhodes will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Oakland
Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Shrum officiating. Born in Rock Hill, S.C.,
Mr. Rhodes was the son of Samuel W. and Sarah Underwood Rhodes Sr. of Rock
Hill. Mr. Rhodes was an entrepreneur in many types of business. He was a
member of the Rotary, Elks, Sertoma Clubs and a graduate of The Citadel,
Class of 1973. Mr. Rhodes was predeceased by his niece, Anna Rhodes. In
addition to his parents, Mr. Rhodes is survived by his sons, Joshua Rhodes
of Columbia, S.C., and Samuel W. Rhodes III and wife, Angie, of Rock Hill;
his daughter, Gussie Rhodes of Rock Hill; his former wife, Julie Rhodes of
Rock Hill; his brothers, Bob Rhodes and wife, Margaret, of Atlanta, Ga., and
Jeff Rhodes and wife, Caroline, of Rock Hill; and his grandchildren, Mae
Ellen Rhodes and Lily Rhodes. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8
p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133
Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made
to the American Cancer Society , 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
