			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Walter E. Kunze Jr. of Arlington Heights Memorial visitation for Walter<br />
E. Kunze Jr. will be from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at<br />
11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Lutheran Home and Services, 800 W.<br />
Oakton, Arlington Heights. Burial will be in St. Paul, Minn. Born Jan.<br />
3, 1924, in St. Paul, Minn., to Walter E. and Caroline (nee Brenning)<br />
Kunze, he died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Northwest Community Hospital,<br />
following complications of Parkinson&#8217;s and pneumonia. Walter was a<br />
decorated veteran of the Army, having served in Europe during World War<br />
II. He earned a Purple Heart as well as a Silver Star, which was awarded<br />
for &#8220;Gallantry in Action.&#8221; Additionally, he was on one of the first<br />
tanks which arrived to liberate Dachau Concentration Camp. On June 20,<br />
1947, Walt married Frances Halverson of Sacramento, Calif. He graduated<br />
from the Citadel Military College of South Carolina in 1949 with a<br />
degree in civil engineering and then completed his master&#8217;s degree in<br />
civil engineering at MIT. He was employed by the Portland Cement<br />
Association in Skokie for over 35 years, where he finished his service<br />
as the first president of Construction Technology Laboratories, and<br />
additionally served a term as president of the American Concrete<br />
Institute. Walt enjoyed traveling, photography and his retirement home<br />
in Austria. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances; his three<br />
daughters, Anne (Jeff) Copeland of Stilwell, Kan., Jean (Greg) Poland of<br />
Rochester, Minn. and Elizabeth (Paul) Odom of Hawthorn Woods; and nine<br />
grandchildren, Sharon (Dan) Ryan, Brian and Diane Copeland, Caroline,<br />
Eric and Matt Poland, and Paul, Bobby and David Odom. He was preceded in<br />
death by his parents; and one sister, Ruth (Robert) Debel. In lieu of<br />
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the USO (United Service<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kenneth R. (Rick) Lamison, Jr., passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug.<br />
28, 2010. Born in Altoona, Pa., Rick was a proud graduate of the Citadel<br />
Military College of South Carolina. He was a lieutenant colonel in the<br />
U.S. Army when he retired. Rick was a Las Vegas resident for 19 years.<br />
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; mother; two daughters; four<br />
grandchildren; and his beloved two dogs. Viewing will be 3-6 p.m.<br />
Thursday, Sept. 2, with a memorial service following, both at Palm<br />
Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family is<br />
requesting donations to the American Cancer Society in Rick&#8217;s honor.</p>

2010, at Trident Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday<br />
afternoon, August 31, 2010, at 3 o&#8217;clock at Parks Funeral Home Chapel<br />

in Moncks Corner, SC, Bob was the son of the late Casper Smith and Lena<br />
Harvey Smith. He is a graduate of Berkeley High School and he received<br />
his Bachelors Degree from USC and his Masters Degree from The Citadel.<br />
Bob had a passion for teaching his favorite languages, Latin and French,<br />
which was instilled in him by Mrs. Elizabeth C. Kennedy, his high school<br />
Latin teacher. Bob is a retired professor at the College of Charleston<br />
and retired teacher from Dorchester, Charleston, and Orangeburg County<br />
schools. Bob was also a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was a<br />
loving brother and friend. Surviving are two sisters, Carolyn Smith<br />
Knight and Frances Smith Sweat, both of Summerville; two nephews, Joel<br />
D. Sweat of Summerville and Ronald Lee Clontz, Jr. of Decatur, GA; and a<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Cadwallader &#8220;Quaddy&#8221; Jones, 88, of Sullivan&#8217;s Island, entered into eternal rest on the evening of August 25, 2010. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Cadwallader Jones are invited to attend the funeral services for &#8220;Quaddy&#8221; on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., in The Summerall Chapel, The Citadel. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Sunday, between 5-7 p.m. Cadwallader Jones was born November 26, 1921, in East Orange, New Jersey, the son of Allen Jones and Helen Iredell Williams Jones. He was a 1942 Civil Engineering graduate of The Citadel where he was a Cadet Company Commander, member of The Summerall Guards, and Captain of the Track Team. Upon graduation he went immediately into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to serve in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Before the war&#8217;s end &#8220;Quaddy&#8221; married his sweetheart Lucy Paul, and following his Army service, he went to work in the family business at Paul Motor Company. In 1967, Mr. Jones founded Jones Ford, Inc., in North Charleston, retiring in 1992. He was also member of the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings and Loan. Mr. Jones was an Elder Emeritus at Church Creek Presbyterian Church (PCA) where he was a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. He was a Past President of theRotary Club of North Charleston, Chairman of the Blood Services Committee of the American Red Cross, Director for the Charleston YMCA, and participant in numerous other community organizations. He was a physical fitness advocate, and an avid jogger, serving on the board that started the Cooper River Bridge Run. He and Lucy are members of the Cooper River Bridge Run Hall of Fame. Cadwallader will also be remembered for the numerous succinct letters he wrote to the editor of the Charleston Post and Courier. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucy Paul Jones; three daughters: Helen Iredell Jones of Lake Lure, NC, Grange Walters (David), and Robin Cooper (Richard) of Charleston; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by an infant son, a grandson Bixby Cooper, a sister, Jane Clarke, and a brother Allen Jones, Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to Taylor Pope, Susannah Johnston, Charlene Crawford and Charnette Pinckney who have helped us all through these last years with their outstanding and tender care. &#8220;Quaddy&#8221; Jones was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, both a diligent businessman and a caring, generous employer, an active church member and community leader. But above all else, he was a man who wanted his life to bring glory and honor to His Lord, and he never tired of thanking God for His goodness and grace in all things. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Conrad Joseph Kornoski, 74, Laureldale, died Aug. 20, 2010, in Reading<br />
Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Elizabeth Louise<br />
(Pellicciotti) Kornoski, whom he married Nov. 25, 1961. Born Feb. 8,<br />
1936, in Glen Lyon, Pa., he was a son of the late Joseph and Celia<br />
(Ladishak) Kornoski. Conrad was a 1954 graduate of Newport Township High<br />
School and a 1958 graduate of The Citadel Military College of South<br />
Carolina. He was employed in purchasing with Western<br />
Electric/AT&amp;T/Lucent for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Conrad was a member<br />
of Holy Guardian Angels RC Church, Hyde Park. He was also a member of<br />
Pioneers, Reading, and enjoyed golfing and Notre Dame football.<br />
Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Joseph Conrad Kornoski,<br />
Laureldale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10<br />
a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels RC Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park. A<br />
viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral<br />
Home Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Entombment will be in Chapel<br />
of St. George, Gethsemane Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Funeral service for Ripley Westmoreland Clarkson, of Winnsboro, will be<br />
held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at First United Methodist<br />
Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina. A graveside service will follow in<br />
First United Methodist Church Cemetery on East College Street. Mr.<br />
Clarkson was born July 21, 1953, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the<br />
son of the late Honorable Nathaniel Heyward Clarkson Jr. and Mrs.<br />
Margaret Westmoreland Clarkson. He was a graduate of Hammond School and<br />
a 1975 graduate of The Citadel. After two years of military service in<br />
the Unites States Army, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the<br />
University of South Carolina School of Law. Mr. Clarkson also served in<br />
the J.A.G. Corps in the United States Army Reserve. He was an assistant<br />
attorney general for the State of South Carolina. Surviving are his<br />
wife; Elinor Wylie Clarkson; two sons, Wylie Westmoreland Clarkson and<br />
his wife, Andrea McElveen Clarkson, Blair Childs Clarkson; his mother,<br />
Mrs. Margaret Westmoreland Clarkson of Columbia; a sister, Eugenia<br />
Clarkson Brabham and her husband, Angus McKay Brabham III, of Columbia;<br />
a brother, Nathaniel Heyward Clarkson III and his wife, Helen McKay<br />
Clarkson, of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of<br />

Aug. 20, 2010, at his home. A native of Chester County, Mr. Gill was<br />
born Oct. 17, 1946, son of the late Hugh Millen Gill Sr. and the late<br />
Martha Douglas Gill. He was a sales representative for Humana, a member<br />
of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a 1968 graduate of the<br />
Citadel. Surviving are his wife, Robin McGuire Gill; a daughter, Anna<br />
Douglas Gill; three sisters, Polly Guyton of Blythewood, S.C., Angie<br />
Payne of Charlotte, N.C., and Lynn Hatcher of Greenville, S.C. The<br />
family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Union ARP church<br />
in Richburg. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gill will be held at<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Richard C. Cooley, Sr., age 75, of Hockessin, DE, went home to be with<br />
the Lord on August 15, 2010, at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by<br />
his family and friends. After graduating from the Citadel in 1956, he<br />
was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving two<br />
years active duty. He continued to serve for the next 19 years in the<br />
Army Reserves retiring as a Colonel. Rick retired from the DuPont<br />
Company as an Occupational Health Consultant. He was a member of<br />
Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Music Box Society International.<br />
He enjoyed mechanical music machines, traveling with his wife Betty and<br />
spending time with his grandchildren. Rick was preceded in death by his<br />
parents, Brooks and Mallie Cooley. He is survived by his wife of 53<br />
years, Betty King Cooley, his sons, Richard C. Cooley, Jr. and Brooks T.<br />
Cooley, his grandchildren, Nathan, Benjamin and Etsuko, his brothers,<br />
Allan Brooks Cooley, Guy Edwin Cooley and many nieces and nephews.<br />
Friends may call on Thursday, August 19, from 10-11 am, at the<br />
Evangelical Presbyterian Church 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711<br />
where a service will begin at 11 am. Burial will be in Hockessin Friends<br />
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Evangelical<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Major William S. Morgan Jr., USMC (Ret.), 78, died on Wednesday, Aug.<br />
11, 2010. He was the elder son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Morgan Sr.<br />
Morgan retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1974 after serving for more<br />
than 20 years. As naval aviator, he served two tours in Vietnam &#8212; his<br />
first tour from 1965 to 1966 as a helicopter pilot and his second tour<br />
from 1968 to 1969 as a fighter pilot. He flew approximately 300 combat<br />
missions, receiving: 20 Air Medals, including an Air Medal with a Gold<br />
Star/Flight Numeral 18; Navy Commendation Medal; National Defense<br />
Service Medal with one star; Vietnam Service Medal with seven stars;<br />
Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star; and the<br />
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Morgan also received a letter of<br />
appreciation from the Senior Advisor, 2nd Infantry Regiment endorsed by<br />
the Senior Advisor, 1st Infantry Division and Commanding Officer,<br />
HMM-163 for outstanding support on a combat mission he flew as a<br />
helicopter pilot on May 1966 at Gio Linh and Con Thien. He wrote and<br />
published a poem on Gio Linh and Con Thien in 1993, memorializing the<br />
Marines who fought there 27 years earlier. After retiring from the<br />
Marine Corps, he was employed by the Employment Security Commission of<br />
North Carolina for more than 15 years. He retired from the State of<br />
North Carolina in 1977. Born in Spartanburg, S.C. on April 18, 1932, he<br />
graduated from The Citadel in 1954 with an AB degree. He later received<br />
his MEd degree from N.C. State University. A service honoring Morgan&#8217;s<br />
life, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Elizabethtown Baptist<br />
Church. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery. Visitation<br />
will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral<br />
Home in Elizabethtown. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean<br />
Yandle; two sons, William Stuart III of Columbia, S.C., and  David<br />
Collins of Wake Forest; and a daughter, Kim; a brother, John Elford of<br />
Charlotte; two sisters, Maria Elmore of Charlotte, and Nancy Brown of<br />
Fort Myers, Fla.; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the Morgan<br />
family requests that memorials be made to the Christian Activity Center<br />
at Elizabethtown Baptist Church.</p>
